A brief history of Tiger Stripe Products.

“Not all camouflages are created equal.”

In 1984, Tiger Stripe Products began producing uniforms by having our Tiger Stripe clothing manufactured in Thailand. Manufacturing, sizing, quality control, and deliveries were all very… well… lacking.

By 1985, we had re-thought our project and began offering our superior, U.S. made, copyrighted, Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe™ pattern. Production costs more than doubled but it ultimately yielded a very high quality garment. We sold retail to the public and sold wholesale to an international network of dealers including Brigade Quartermasters®, U.S. Cavalry®, and Quartermaster Uniform® catalog houses.

Hollywood came calling with numerous request for our authentic Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe™ pattern uniforms. We supplied the CBS TV Series “Tour Of Duty”, the Disney® film “Dumbo Drop”, “Terminator Salvation”, and Showtime’s® “Stargate SG-1” just to name a few. The most recent sightings of our products have been in select episodes of CBS’s “NCIS:Los Angeles” and “SEAL Team”. However, “SEAL Team” wardrobe unfortunately selected a very cheap commercial knock-off stripe pattern to use in their North Korean episode. This stripe pattern is horribly ineffective in the real world.

Understandably it is a TV show but, they could have easily gone the extra step. They could have used our far superior authentic Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe™ uniform that actually still functions very well in the real Special Operations community. Not all camouflages are created equal. I’m just say’n…

Our Desert Tiger™ came on board shortly before DESERT SHIELD/STORM. The Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune bought an entire 2500 set run of these uniforms. With this battlefield experience, reports back from USMC Force Recon, and other Spec Ops, were all highly favorable. Our Desert Tiger™’s continue to be a favorite of Special Operation operators, Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, and Security Forces throughout the world to this day.

Next, due to the closings of most of the smaller sewing plants in the U.S., it was decided to license our copyrighted camouflage designs to the larger manufacturers. We first worked with Propper International® and then with Atlanco/TRU-SPEC®. From our relationship with Atlanco®, the outstanding, highly effective, and hugely popular All Terrain Tiger™ was introduced. Photos don’t do it justice. You have to see it in person to really appreciate it’s highly effective colorway.

In 2001, Tiger Stripe Products was chosen by the U.S. Air Force to develop their new organizational image “camouflage like” pattern. We organized, setup, and ran the entire program for more than three years. Bloated government bureaucracy at it’s worst.

In more recent years, our online store was launched to help support our licensed manufacturer Atlanco/TRU-SPEC® and to make products more easily available to the public. Other great licensed products are now also available through our authorized web sales partners.

Today, Tiger Stripe Products continues to license manufacturers to make clothing and offers water transfer film sheets to professional decorators. We also continue to specialize in designing state-of-the-art camouflage patterns utilizing proprietary computer design techniques. Clients include Governments, Military/Security Forces, defense contractors, and individual commercial manufacturers.
